Exporting your VR Video

The VR video playback software can playback any resolution but not all devices are powerful enough to playback high resolution 3D 360 video.  To get the best experience on each device you can render multiple versions of a video so that it can work on a wide variety of devices.

CREATE 3 VERSIONS OF EACH VIDEO

For the best experience across various devices, it’s best to render multiple versions of your video in various resolutions and bitrate.  Below are recommended settings for 3D 360 degree VR video.  Please note: Playback performance may also be affected by the server bandwidth and processing power of the users device.

  1. High Quality (For Desktop & PC VR headsets)
    Resolution: 3840x3840 pixels
    Bitrate: 50mbps
Frames per second: 60 or 30 (depending on what setting was used during filming)
    Format: mp4 (h.264)

  2. Medium Quality (For high end mobile devices)
    Resolution: 3840x3840 pixels
    Bitrate: 35mbps
    Frames per second: 30
    Format: mp4 (h.264)

  3. Low Quality (For low end mobile devices)
    Resolution: 2000x2000 pixels
    Bitrate: 20mbps
    Frames per second: 30
    Format: mp4 (h.264)

FRAMES PER SECOND

If you have filmed footage at 60 frames per second you can render at 60fps for the high quality version of your video. Just make sure to check the fps is set correctly before rendering.

When you render the medium and low quality videos you will need to remember to change the fps of the sequence before your export the final video.

To change fps simply select your main sequence in the timeline then click on “Sequence > Sequence settings.

Click on the “Timebase” drop down arrow and choose your preferred setting: 29.97 or 59.94 fps

EXPORT SETTINGS

When you’re ready to render your video simply click on “export” and follow the examples below.

FORMAT

Set your filename. Use a name that identifies the video as well as its export settings so you can easily tell which video is which.

Set your format to H.264
